Brendgens-Mönkemeyer, Thomas

Brendgens-Mönkemeyer is as much at home on the classical nylon-strung guitar as on the steel-strung archtop electric. Since studying the guitar in Cologne and Boston (Berklee), Thomas has established a reputation as a complete musician with skills in many fields, including jazz, classical and blues. Formerly a lecturer at various music universities, Thomas teaches jazz guitar as a Professor of Honor at Hannover University of Music.
A sought-after player for major venues and festivals throughout Europe and beyond, he has performed with musicians such as Ralph Towner, Ron Anthony, Daniel Corzo, Derek Bailey, Larry Coryell, Woody Mann, Lyambiko, and Evelyn Gramel.
His albums include duo CDs: Alterations, Textures, On A Clear Day, and solo recordings: Beauty, and Lightness, which display his considerable abilities as a composer!

“Monkemeyer is a master of texture”, Just Jazz Guitar, USA.

“Thomas displays the virtuosity and tenderness which only a fine solo guitarist can achieve”, Jazz Guitar Society of Western Australia.
