Mercuri

Damiano Mercuri was born in Rome in 1977; he graduated in guitar with top marks and honours with Carlo Carfagna and in music teaching at the S. Cecilia Conservatory in Rome. He also studied flamenco guitar with Juan Lorenzo, jazz guitar with Fabio Zeppetella and mandolin with Luca Mereu. He followed a seminar on composition for film music with Luciano Michelini and studied composition with Pasquale Lucia.

As a classical guitarist, he performs as a soloist in chamber ensembles and with orchestras, giving recitals in Italy, Bulgaria, Poland and Lithuania.

In 2022, Mercuri won the second international prize, "Città di Stresa", with the composition for solo guitar "Marionette". Carish and Sinfonica publish his music. His compositions are digitally distributed by MusicaNeo.

In 2011, Damiano Mercuri founded the "Youth Guitar Orchestra of Rome", where he is a director/mandolin player, winning numerous awards and giving innumerable performances.

He has recorded a CD of Renaissance and Baroque music for the Israeli label "The Eastern Front"; for the Oratory of S. Filippo Neri, he recorded a live CD with Vivaldi's RV93 and RV 425 concerts as both guitarist and mandolinist; together with other Roman guitarists, he participated in the monographic CD dedicated to C. Carfagna for the Margy Group label.

Furthermore, he is a singer-songwriter and founder of the neo-folk music project "Rose Ruins and Lovers", performing throughout almost all of Europe and producing numerous CDs for the English label Cold Spring Records.
He is a guitar teacher at the Rome Toscanini State Music Secondary School.
Mercuri collaborates with the Civica Scuola della Arti as a teacher for the pre-academic courses affiliated with the L. Refice Conservatory of Latina.
