Andersen Viana
Andersen Viana is a multi-artist (composer, writer, film director and visual artist) and retired professor at State Fundação Clóvis Salgado (www.fcs.mg.gov.br) in Belo Horizonte-Brazil. He began composing at the age of 13 and became a professor at the age of 19. Subsequently, Viana completed PhD studies in Music Composition at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA) and furthered his studies at other institutions in Brazil, Italy and Sweden, such as the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Accademia Filarmonica di Bologna, Arts Academy of Rome, Accademia Chigiana di Siena and the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. He has written 438 music works for almost all instrumental and vocal ensembles and received 50 composition awards and recognitions in Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Italy, Malaysia, Singapore, Spain, Serbia, the United Kingdom, Ukraine and the USA, including the Genzmer Prize 2022 (Germany), Shostakovich Prize 2021 (Ukraine) and the F. Schubert Prize 2023 (UK). Up to the present, he has composed music for solo instruments, chamber, full orchestra and symphonic band, opera, choir, various ensembles, and electronic instruments.
