Marilena Cucchiara was born in Salemi, Sicily (Italy) in 1993. She started her guitar studies at the conservatory "A. Scontrino" in Trapani under Masters Nello Alessi and Luca Lucini, graduating in 2018. She has since attended master classes with some of the most important names on the international guitar scene such as Matteo Mela, Letizia Guerra, Rovshan Mamedkuliev, Cristoph Denoth, Margarita Escarpa, Antonio Rugolo, and Andrea De Vitis.

Ms Cucchiara has participated in international guitar festivals, including "Tiempo de Guitarras", "Sciacca Classic Fest", and "Norma Musica Festival". She has also given recitals for many music associations.

Ms Cucchiara has attended masters courses in orchestral conducting.  She has also studied musical propaedeutics (that is, providing the introductory basis for music education), and is currently one of the few Sicilian masters specializing in this field.

In 2018 the opera "Aguizotes" by the Costa Rican composer Jose Arias and to two guitar compositions by the guitarist and actor Sergio Coldagelli was dedicated to Ms Cucchiara.

Since graduating in guitar with the highest honours in 2018, Ms Cucchiara has composed for the instrument.  Her music is published by various Italian publishing houses, and now by Bergmann Edition.
