Adrian Andrei, Sonatina No. 2

For solo guitar.

At the beginning of 2017, I began working at Bela Bartok’s Sonatina for piano to arrange it for solo guitar. I was about to give a final form to this settlement, but I realised that it is not possible to achieve a version for guitar in accordance with Bartok’s score. Being infused with the Romanian themes he used in his piano work, I came up with the idea to write my own work for solo guitar. In less than three days, I composed the Sonatina
No. 2 in three movements, leading the guitar in the modal field based on three modes.
Because I followed Bartok’s suggestions for his Sonatina, both in the melodic clarity and the modal harmony, I dedicated my second Sonatina to the great Hungarian composer. The Romanian background encountered in Bartok’s language is the one which inspired me, particularly in this work, as well as in many other works from my output.
